• Thematic Area 2. Theoretical concepts. Military engineering. ‘Modern’ defence. New concepts. New ways of defending kingdoms. The construction of ‘shields’. Artillery. Utopian projects.

• Thematic Area 3. Research on built heritage. The architectural heritage. Studies, knowledge, and dissemination. Castles, towers, and fortresses. Previous studies, maintenance and conservation of the architectural heritage.
